If you only want to play a few for longer time it’s probably worth it though. But since you said you were looking mostly at war and sports games I don’t think that’s something you’d want, just mentioning it for completeness.Īnd as others said the Xbox game pass is a good deal if you have good Internet B/W want to try a lot of different games (that you will be downloading and deleting on the tiny SSD…).
If portability and exclusive adventure games are important then the Switch may be the way to go. Of course all of this assumes you want a high end console at home.
The Series S also has really small storage so you may basically only be able to download a few “modern” games at a time (then you have to delete them or pay another $100 for storage expansion). Probably only really important if you want to play in 4K. If you do choose Digital only the PS5 has better performance (same specs as the disk one) while the XB Series S is lower end hardware. And if you play online budget $60 a year for PS+ / XB Live Gold. But then extra controllers are $60-70 each.
The XB Series S or PS5 Digital are easier to find and are $300 and $400 respectively so will save you some cash. Do you already have a nice TV? If so $1k is a pretty good budget for a console! (Assuming you refuse to buy a scalped PS5 for 2x the cost… please do refuse to do that )Īnd do you prefer physical disks/want to use it as a BD player (or have poor internet)? And how many people do you want to use it with? And do you want to play online?
